Zutara
Zutara is the shipping of Zuko and Katara, and my preferred one. At first I was
very anti-Zutara, but my sister (Phoebe) converted me.
What about Zuko x Katara? They haven't spoken since The Waterbending Scroll!
Well, they're a
dorable together-after all, Katara is a tall,
dark-haired beauty, and Zuko is a tall handsome guy, that is, most importantly,
taller and older than she is!
I think fans enjoy putting Katara and Zuko together because of their age
differences and because they are both good-looking. Other reasons are because of
Zuko's heart-breaking past and because of Katara's motherly compassion. Plus,
watching them together on screen is addictive,
Katara is the first person to forgive Zuko's past wrongs. even willing to give
up he

r small amount of spirit water to heal his scar. However, before she can do
so, she and Zuko are rescued by Aang and Iroh. Iroh insists that it is time for
Zuko to make a life-changing decision, whether to ally himself with the forces
of good or evil. But before Zuko can choose, Azula ambushes the pair,
imprisoning Iroh and manipulating the desperately confused Zuko. Under his
sister's twisted guidance, Zuko helps her defeat the avatar, a shattered Katara
and even capture Uncle.
However, only minutes after his betrayal, Zuko has second thoughts. "I betrayed
Uncle," he laments, but Azula insists, "No-he betrayed
you."
Zuko returns to the Fire Nation, a celebrated war hero, and begins dating Mai.
However, under Iroh's patient influence, Zuko realizes he lost himself and
decides to join the avatar and help take Ozai down.
This is where Zutara really gets big. Katara is unwilling to trust Zuko, still
fragile after his betrayal back at Ba Sing Se. She attacks him viciously,
driving him away and insisting that he never return. However, after rescuing the
gang from Combustion Man, Aang gives Zuko another chance. Katara isn't as
generous, and informs Zuko darkly that she will kill him if he ever threatens
Aang (like she could).
Zuko continually proves himself worthy of trust, at one point sacrificing
himself to protect Aang, Katara and co. In spite of this, Katara continues to
openly scorn him and makes it known that she despises Zuko and wants him out of
the group.
Zuko, unable to bear Katara and his lost friendship, salvages information from
Sokka about their mother's murderer. He and Katara then confront the guilty
party, all through Zuko's painstaking efforts. Katara finds herself unable to
kill the murderer, but insists she will never forgive him. She then announces,
tenderly, that she is willing to forgive Zuko, renewing their
friendship-relationship-with a loving hug.
From this point on, their warm feelings for one another are obvious; them
sitting together to watch a play, drawing shyly away when their affections are
exploited. Katara supposedly has feelings for Zuko at one point, telling Aang
that she is too confused to be in an active relationship with him. This is most
likely because she feels she needs to sort her feelings for Zuko.
Zuko and Katara continually bond, him even choosing her to accompany him in his
quest to take down Azula. Katara accepts promptly. Azula, realizing that she is
outnumbered and outmatched, singles out Zuko, challenging him to an Agni Kai.
Zuko, baited, accepts depite Katara's pleading.
Zuko wears an instable Azula down, to the point that he is one move away from
ending her life. Azula, intimidated by Zuko's tauting, is baited into using
lightning. However, she knows he will redirect it, and aims her lightning at the
watching Katara. Zuko realizes this in the nick of time, and throws himself in
the way to save her, even allowing the deadly lightning to cross his heart.
Azula is determined not to allow Katara near Zuko. Katara is forced to avoid her
dangerous rampage, despairing as Zuko lays lying on the battlefield.
Katara manages to trick Azula, chaining her to a sewage cage. Seizing her
chance, Katara rushes to Zuko's side, placing her hands on his burned chest with
motherly love. Katara manages to bring him back from the brink of death,
helping him up gently. The two then stand, Katara holding onto his upper arm in
companionship as they watch, with mixed feelings, the once great Azula thrashing
about.
So...Zutara didn't happen. But we can still hope; especially that the reason
Katara wanted to wait was because of Zuko..

Tokka
Tokka is the shipping for Toph and
Sokka, another one I proudly support. It is a one-way shipping, Toph harboring a very cute crush on Sokka, but
Sokka loving Toph only as a sister and caring for her as her older brother, and
in a way, her set of eyes.
Toph's feelings for Sokka are developed over the course of the series. In their
initial meeting, this tough girl shows no traces of affection for Sokka, miuch
less Aang or Katara. However, we first see the sparks in
The Chase,
where Sokka is the only member of Team Avatar that insist Toph stay; in turn, he
is the only person Toph does not scorn. She simply pushes past him as she makes
her departure.
Toph eventually rejoins the group, and she and Aang begin earthbending training.
Sokka leaves to hunt, but becomes trapped in a deep crevice. He is later rescued
by Toph, who seems to be pleased by this.
Later, the group journeys to Ba Sing Se for multiple reasons: to rescue a
captive Appa and to inform t

he Earth King of a looming Solar Eclipse. When their
companion are robbed of their tickets, Aang decides that they must take the more
dangerous Serpent's Pass, a route that only the truly desperate use.
On the way, the group is attacked, and several boulders roll down, one
threatening to kill Sokka. Toph, sensing this, deters it, but Sokka is more
concerned about Suki than thanking a bitter Toph.
Toph, while crossing across the water, slips and drowns, flailing out and crying
for help. Sokka immediately attempts to rescue her but Suki is faster. Toph,
being blind, is convinced her hero is Sokka, and smothers Suki with hugs and
kisses.
Little other evidence of Tokka is seen until the Crossroads of Destiny, where,
aboard Appa, she very tenderly grasps Sokka's arm. And, to the delight of
Tokka fans everywhere, he doesn't seem to mind one bit.
After arriving and assuming aliases in the Fire Nation, Sokka begins to feel
useless due to his lack of bending. So he seeks out a swords master, Master
Piandao. Sokka trains with him 24/7, and Katara, Aang, and Toph begin to miss
him incredibly. When he returns, Katara and Aang welcome him back with great
enthusiasm, pleading he say "something funny." Toph, however, plays hard-to-get.
She turns away, and blushing furiously, claims she didn't miss him at all. Sokka
sarcastically remarks that she warms his heart. Tokka fans are probably
thrilled he chose to use the word "heart".
Katara and Toph begin to butt heads with their radically different bending
styles, and soon their feelings escalate into enmity. Sokka is the only one able
to soothe Toph and convince her that although Katara is bossy, she is only that
way because she cares.
During the comet, Sokka, Toph, and Suki attempt to stop the Air Ships. To do so,
they proceed with a dangerous plan: they batter all the other ships with one
they themselves stole. During their plan, Sokka and Toph are separated from Suki.
The mission becomes increasingly dangerous, and Toph's feet are unable to see
aboard the metal ships. Sokka acts as her eyes, never letting go of her hand and
guiding her lovingly throughout the whole ordeal. At one point projectiles and
other random bits plummet from above, and in defense of a blind Toph, Sokka
throws himself protectively over her.
Although Toph and Siokka never really happened, at least it was a one
way...unlike Zutara, although we Zutarians can sill hope.
