Historic Biography:
Lu Meng lived from 178 –219 A.D., dying at the age of 41. Meng was a powerful, loyal, officer of Wu.
He was fair and righteous This showed, when he had a friend of his beheaded
after stealing a hat from a villager. He was the father
of a powerful officer named Lu Ba. His father and
wife, unknown.
Meng was a mighty, rather
merciless warrior of Wu. He and his troops were
the cause of the mighty Guan Yu, sworn brother of the ruler
of Shu, Liu Bei and Zhang Fei. Meng didn’t care about anything that stood in
his way. He was the one that conspired to kill
Guan Yu. Meng
would wait for Yu down on a trail north of Maichang. Sure enough, Yu was
slain, not prepared for the surprise ambush. However, he certainly gave Meng
and his troops a hard time. Before dying, he said, "If I cannot slay Lu Meng
while I live, I will slay him after I am dead, for my hate for him will never
be unappeased."
Ziming, (his style name) was killed during his celebration on his deed
of slaying the mighty Guan Yu. However, Yu’s spirit took over Meng. Blood
shot forth from the seven holes of his body, and there he lay dead, killed in
his own ceremony.
