Sun Shang Xiang

Historic Biography:

Sun Shang Xiang, more commonly referred to as Lady Sun, was the only daughter of Sun Jian, the emperor of Wu. Many said she was a 'manly woman' or as we say it in modern days, a tomboy. This was, to most extents,  true. She was placed in extensive martial arts training and her room was decorated with weapons from war. Her hand maidens even knew how to fence. She was described as a fiery and determined character.

Physically, she was described to be of pleasant appearance, and in Chapter 54 of the book, at the flower of her youth.

Sun Shang Xiang's brother, Sun Quan, was a schemer and together he and the unofficial strategist  of Wu, Zhou Yu, plotted to capture Liu Bei, emperor of Shu. Sun Quan offered his sister as a bride to Liu Bei, who, according to plan, accepted.  It was planned that once Liu Bei came into Wu, unarmed, he would be taken and held against his will, and they would ask for the land of Jingzhou as a ransom. However, the brilliant strategist of Shu saw through the plan and warned Liu Bei ahead of time. So when Liu Bei arrived, his men played marital music so loud everyone came out to witness what they thought to be a wedding. Wu could no longer murder or capture Liu Bei, and was forced to proceed accordingly. So the two were wed and Liu Bei took Sun Shang Xiang. The two fled from Wu, who was planning to recapture Liu Bei. This was only managed through Sun Shang Xiang's excited scolding. The solders sent to stop the pair feared her even more than Zhou Yu. Though their marriage was merely a plan, Sun Shang Xiang fell in love with Liu Bei. Eventually, Liu Bei entrusted her to be the stepmother of his son, Liu Shan. Sun Quan used this to his advantage, spreading false rumors that Lady Wu, Sun Shang Xiang's mother, was gravely ill and wanted to see her daughter and stepson before   It was planned that Liu Shan would be held  hostage, as well as Lady Sun. Zhao Yun saw through the plot and reclaimed Liu Shan. Unshaken, Sun Shang Xiang continued , never seeing Liu Bei again. Liu Bei eventually  died  trying to avenge his sworn brother Guan Yu and when Sun Shang Xiang heard that her beloved had passed, she grew sorrowful and threw herself into a river, drowning.

Game Biography:

In the game, Sun Shang Xiang is portrayed as loyal, especially so to her family (The Sun Family: Sun Jiang, Sun Quan, and Sun Ce), eventually betraying the kingdom of Shu (and her beloved Liu Bei) to assist them in battle. Shang Xiang is a swifter character, with a pretty good moveset ; a potential threat in battles.
