The Story:
Historic:
Yue Ying and Zhuge Liang were presumably a happy couple.
Zhuge Liang loved her for her wisdom, intelligence, and company. Yue Ying
spread a rumor (unknown if true or false)
that she was very ugly, hoping that with appearance out of the way, people
would see her for her talents rather than beauty. Zhuge Liang sought her in
spite of the vicious rumors he heard, and was quickly captivated with her
intelligence. The two settled down and established a happy life together.
Together, they invented many new objects and helped one another with
strategies and so forth.
Game:
Zhuge Liang, in the game, entrusted her to carry out many difficult parts of his plans, such as challenging Jiang Wei and establishing the jaugernaut. In Ying's ending, Liang confesses how blessed he feels to have her in his life, and Yue Ying agrees saying that they should brave whatever surprises the future attacks them with together.
Bonus Note:
In Warriors Orochi, Yue Ying is captured while fighting alongside Xing Cai who persuades Zhao Yun to return and rescue her. Yue Ying proceeds to search for Zhuge Liang, missing and feared captured at the time. She discovers him working for the enemy, Orochi, leaving her broken hearted, yet convinced that his betrayal is part of his plan. Zhuge Liang returns to the side of Shu later in the game, his service to Orochi only a benefit to rescuing Liu Bei.
