Taigong Wang in WO2
Taigong Wang is depicted as a young and handsome strategist, as well as an
immortal mystic possessing supernatural talents, as displayed in the Shu Faction
Ending of WO2, as well as in the final stage of Orochi's storyline.
He is portrayed as being an arrogant and cocky man, whose view of human beings
is nothing short of condescending scorn. Wang is also showed to be very dramatic
and to have a poetic sense of speaking. He strongly believes that mortals are
mere, incapable creatures, and initially plans to use the humans to further his
own plans.
He is implied to be the apprentice, or young attendant, of the mystical Fu Xi
and his sister, Nu Wa.
Taigong Wang, alongside Fu Xi and Nu Wa, capture and imprison Orochi
for his wrongs against mankind. However, Da Ji, a wicked woman sentenced to
death personally by Taigong Wang, pitied him and through her efforts, he fled
from "those awful mystics", in Da Ji's words.
When Orochi escapes confinement, Taigong Wang, Fu Xi, and Nu Wa pursue him and
engage in a final showdown attempting to recapture him. Although they ultimately
lose, the humans triumph and Orochi is slain. However, the three mystics are
provoked to motion once more as they learn that Da Ji has allied herself with
Kiyomori Taira, a demonic general she resurrected to assist her in reviving
Orochi.
The three divide to aide three separate factions. Taigong Wang observes the Shu
army struggling against a secluded Da Ji and comes to their aide, breaking down
her barricades. Upon Liu Bei's urging, he agrees to join their cause and through
his efforts they eventually confront and defeat Orochi X.
By the end, Taigong Wang is touched profoundly by the humans' continual concern
for his welfare. He also finds himself completely awed at their ultimate
strength, having been able to overcome Orochi a second time, and doubly
powerful. In the end Taigong Wang admits that his initial view of humankind were
wrong, confessing that they are in many ways superior to him. He finally learns
modesty, and bidding the humans farewell, leaves.
In Orochi's storyline, we watch as he crushes cause after cause with
relative ease. However, when it seems that he has finally succeeded in subduing
humanity, he experiences a feeling of coldness so powerful even Da Ji is aware
of it. It is then that they realize that Fu Xi, Nu Wa, and Taigong Wang, his
initial captors, have pursued him with the intention of bringing him back to the
mystic realm.
Taigong Wang and co. are defeated by Orochi, assuring him that in spite of their
loss his fate is set. Following this battle the three can only watch from the
sidelines as the humans struggle against the monster.
